Notes from the August 7, 2012, Town Hall Meeting

  1. Will discuss memorial ideas for Doug Boone at next COS meeting.  Ideas presented thus far:  naming fountain in front of St. Alban’s, naming dog park at The Preserve.  Will need to present dog park idea to Town of Davidson as the park belongs to the town.
  2. Rental Properties-Celeste
    1. Create a “short list” of rules/covenants to educate owners, property managers and renters.  Most violations are parking related.
    2. Remind owners and property managers that leases need to be registered with Abbott.
    3. Abbott will help with getting information to renters-Vera asked residents to assist in identifying renters (addresses.)  Will include reminder in annual meeting mailing.
  3. Townhome Maintenance Schedule
    1. Will continue to “bundle” repairs/maintenance to keep costs down.  Safety issues take priority.
    2. Working on security and logistical issues with painting of doors.
    3. Residents reminded to call Abbott if there are gutter issues.  Gutters are currently scheduled to be cleaned twice a year.
    4. No plans to remove bushes in alley ways.  Residents may prune the bushes if there is growth after pruning is done by the landscape company.  You may remove bushes if it is necessary to accommodate new air conditioning units, however, the forms must be completed and submitted to Arch committee.  The Arch committee has thoroughly researched this and is prepared to handle all of these requests.
    5. All townhome residents were reminded to report to Abbott any issues or problems with their units and not to assume that they will be spotted on walkthroughs.
    6. Will check with Town to see if there is a schedule for re-paving the alleyways.
  4. Mail Delivery
    1. Very laborious and long process.  Since there is no overwhelming request for home delivery, no further will work will be done on this by the CoS.  May have more requests in next year’s survey at which point, volunteers will be required to form an ad hoc committee to take on this project.
    2. You can get deliveries at the post office by using the address “99 Jackson Street” however, you MUST sign up at the post office to use this address.
  5. Resident Questions/Concerns
    1. Safety concern about the first 2 parking spaces on Caldwell-blind right turn.  CoS will investigate and if necessary, speak to Town.
    2. Bat infestations on Harper Lee-investigate if Eagle Scouts would be willing to construct bat houses and Town would allow bat houses in parks to alleviate problems in neighborhood.
    3. Townhome residents should report tree or shrub contact with homes to help with pest control.
  6. Oktoberfest
    1. We have 4 residents heading up the committee and are seeking volunteers to help.  Currently scheduled for the last week in October.
